Finding quality live music in Brandon has always been a challenge — most of the action is in Tampa, Ybor City, or St. Pete. But Moon Mountain has quietly become one of the best spots for live performance on the eastern side of the bay, and Open Mic Night is the crown jewel.

When Is Open Mic Night?

Open Mic Night at Moon Mountain happens every 1st and 3rd week of the month. Check our Instagram @moonmountainbar for the exact dates each month, since the specific night of the week can shift. We announce upcoming shows a week in advance so you have time to plan.

What to Expect

Open Mic Night at Moon Mountain is exactly what a good open mic should be: loose, warm, supportive, and occasionally surprising. We've had singer-songwriters, spoken word poets, acoustic guitarists, experimental electronic acts, comedians, and everything in between take the stage. The crowd is encouraging and the vibe is never competitive — it's about sharing something real in an intimate setting.

The neon-lit, vaporwave-themed space creates a naturally electric atmosphere that somehow makes every performance feel a little more cinematic. There's something about performing under purple neon with a kava shell in hand that brings out the best in people.

For Performers

Want to perform? Spots are first-come, first-served on the night. Show up early, put your name on the list, and you'll get your time on stage. We welcome all genres, all skill levels, and all art forms. The only rules: keep it respectful and have fun with it.

For Listeners

No performance required — come as a listener, grab a kava shell or a Kahwa® coffee, and enjoy the show. There's no cover charge and no minimum spend. Just come as you are.

The event draws a mix of creative regulars and first-timers, and it's one of the easiest ways to meet interesting people in Brandon. The kava helps with that too.
